Christmas in NYC | Central Park, Top of the Rock and festive shopping at Macy’s

I few weeks ago I heading on trip of a lifetime to New York City with my mum, dad, brother and boyfriend for five days. After a very stressful trip we arrived on the Tuesday evening (minus four suitcases) to our beautiful hotel, The Strand in Midtown. Although we were exhausted (and lacking clothes) we headed to Times Square the first night and took in the amazing lights of the big apple. We grabbed some food nearby and after being awake for over twenty four hours thought it best to head to bed and start a fresh tomorrow morning.

A weekend in London | Biking in Hyde Park & Dinner with a View

My boyfriend and two best friends from home all live and work in London now so I am always popping down when I can to see them. This weekend was no exception, and seeing as it was such a fun and eventful few days I thought I would share with you exactly what I got up to.

Spreading the handmade love ...

Being a textile designer I am always on the look out for things that inspire me to be creative whether it is fashion, art or things I see in everyday life.

I really wanted to write a post about some British fashion brands I have recently been inspired by as they all make and sell beautiful handmade items whether it is jewellery or dresses. Each one is unique and innovative in their own way. My dream is to one day run my own company selling handmade items and these brands really do give me the drive to achieve that one day. So I thought I’d share them with you so you can see them amazing work they do.

Neon Knits & Winter Walks

So October has been mega busy and I haven't had much time to blog recently. I am currently in the process of making some bridesmaids dresses for my friend as well as being busy with work. But I have managed to squeeze in knitting a few more hats. I found these really cute faux fur pompoms on ebay and used some brightly coloured wool I found in the sale at my local wool shop.

Its been gorgeous weather here lately so I thought I'd take some snaps of the hats whilst on a stroll around my village, with my (camera shy) mum and (not so camera shy) yorkie dog Bob.

DIY | Handmade Blanket Coat | Tutorial

The blanket coat is this autumn’s cosiest trend.
These chunky capes seen in checks, stripes or aztec prints are great thrown on over any outfit come rain or shine. And seeing as it's highly unlikely I'll ever be able to afford the original Burberry Prosum monogrammed cape, seen on Cara and Jourdan in the AW14 show, I thought I’d have a go at making my own for a little cheaper…

I found this luxurious tweed woven material at my local fabric store and just had to make something using it. There was a black and white version too so I picked a couple of meters of each up. I experimented with a few design ideas using pattern paper. In the end this shape seemed to work the best and fitted how I wanted to it. If you want to make your own or want to see how I styled mine up read on …

My PFW Favourites

Hi guys,
Paris Fashion week comes second after London as my favourite fashion week.

I feel Paris is a bit more sophisticated, chic and formal compared to the grungier more rebellious London. I love seeing the differences in designs and styles shown at Paris there are some amazing designers showcasing here. It is well know for being the home to some well established giants of the fashion world such as Chanel, Valentino and Lavin to name a few. So I had a hard job picking the best to show you, but here are the ones I LOVED and that really inspired me from this year Paris fashion week!

DIY | October Makes ...

Oh how I do love autumn! Frosty evening walks, crunchy golden leaves on the ground and wrapping up in your favourite knitted item. What's not to love about this season?

This month I am dusting off the knitting needles and buying some gorgeous new wool ready to make some winter warmers for friends and family. I have already started a few hats in this vibrant chartreuse green.

Travel | Weekend in Harrogate

Last weekend I celebrated my twenty fourth birthday and as a treat my boyfriend, Tom took me away for the night to the beautiful Yorkshire town of Harrogate. It is only an hours drive away from where I live, so Tom came up from London and I packed my bag and together we drove over on Saturday, ready to explore.

Bake | Homemade Scones

So it's no secret I love a good cup of tea. This week I thought I would try baking the perfect partner to the great British brew, the scone! This was my first attempt at the traditional pastry so I thought I'd follow an experts recipe. And who better to ask for advice than the Queen herself, Mary Berry.

Travel | Girls trip to Barcelona

September has flown by and it’s probably because there has been so much going on in my life recently. I officially started a new job, I turned the grand old age of 24 and in the middle of that I jetted off to Barcelona with my best friend, Chloe for a weekend away. It was an amazing five days full of sightseeing, shopping and sun. I loved catching up with Chloe, who was my fellow Style Editor with me at Uni and who I don’t see enough of. Here is a little snippet of what we got up to…

Style | Mono Checks

Hi guys,

So September means two things: the arrival of fashion week and (more importantly) my birthday! Yey!

I headed to the shops last week, for the first time in ages, with the intention of getting some ideas for my birthday wish list. However this coat jumped out at me and I just had to get it there and then.

Something to celebrate...

Hi Guys,

I love the little luxuries in life and spending the afternoon sipping tea and having a good catch up is definitely one of my favourite things to do.

Last week I headed to Clitheroe for celebratory afternoon tea with my mum after work. It was such a lovely way to start the weekend I thought I would share some of my photos and thoughts with you.

It was a rainy Friday afternoon so it was nice to shelter in the warmth of the Garden Kitchen nursery tearoom in Holden just outside Clitheroe...

DIY | 5 minute Ripped Jeans Tutorial

Hi Guys,

I have been having a clear out of my wardrobe recently and been replacing old clothes with new season updates. Jeans are a staple which I wear a lot and because of this I often buy a new pair each season to replace the old, well worn ones.
Instead of throwing my old jeans out this season I thought I would recycle them and do a little DIYing on them. I love the ripped jean trend this season so thought it was the perfect excuse to grab the scissors and chop away.
This is a really easy DIY that can be done in 5 minutes, so what are you waiting for?

Travel | A weekend in Munich

Hi guys,

I am back from an amazing trip to Munich this bank holiday and wanted to share with you some of my snaps from over the weekend and some handy tips if you are thinking of visiting Munich.

I went with my boyfriend to visit my brother, who lives there. It is such a beautiful city and I loved exploring its many historic buildings, gorgeous parks and tasting traditional German food. It’s safe to say I came back to England with very sore legs from non stop walking all weekend.

Travel | Tips on packing for a European city break

Hi guys, I am jetting off to Munich, Germany this bank holiday to visit my brother who lives there and am super excited.

Having been a couple of times before, once by myself and again with my mum and dad, I can honestly say it is one of my absolute favourite cities to visit. This time I am excited to be going with my boyfriend Tom, who has never visited this beautiful city before. I can’t wait to show him all the cool beer gardens, amazing views and historical architecture Munich has to offer.

I have been super keen and already started packing. I need to make sure what I pack is minimal but will last all weekend. Seeing as I can only take hand luggage on the plane I need to be organised or I’ll end up packing things I really don’t need. So I thought I’d share with you some tips on packing for a short trip to Europe and how I would style up outfits when faced with limited baggage allowance.

Day dresses and playsuits are the easiest to pack and style as they are lightweight, cool and can easily be worn with or without tights depending on the weather. They are also great to wear at night if you haven’t got time to nip back to hotel and change. I am packing a few in various prints and materials, this mulberry tartan skater dress is one I made myself at the beginning of the year from a really simple sewing pattern. It’s great as the material is durable but lightweight so can be worn all year round.

As well as day dresses packing a variety of tops that go with bottoms is a good idea especially if you are going for a few days like myself, then you have a variety to choose from. I am taking one jersey maxi skirt that can be worn day or night and three tops that can be mixed and matched depending on the temperature and time of day.

My denim jacket is perfect for this kind of trip. As it is late summer and Munich is generally warmer than Britain, I think this lightweight but stylish Topshop one is great..

Lifestyle | An evening at... Coffee & Clay Skipton

A couple of weeks ago I visited Coffee and Clay in Skipton to celebrate my good friend Chloe’s 22nd birthday.
Coffee & Clay is a small café, on the main cobbled high street in Skipton, where you can sip tea and munch cake along side painting some cute pottery of your choice, which you can take away and keep. Amazing!

They also provide great party packages in the evenings… read on to find out more about my visit and see what I thought of Coffee and Clay!

DIY | Tribal Tassel Necklace | Tutorial

DIY Tribal Tassel Necklace

August is here which means one thing… Festivals!
I love going to festivals, not just for the amazing music, atmosphere and people but the chance to wear outfits that are little bit quirkier, fun and boho inspired than everyday wear. For me no festival outfit is complete without a statement necklace, and if its handmade… even better!

So I decided to give an old necklace I don’t wear anymore an injection of tribal style by adding coloured threads and created tassels, making it the perfect accessory to create cool boho vibes at my next festival.

Here’s how I did it…
